Ukraine continues to develop greenhouse vegetable production

According to Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the country continues to move towards the goal: total internal provision of the population with greenhouse vegetables. Last year, more than 30 hectares of modern greenhouses were put into operation, and this year it is planned to build another 52 acres.

“Thanks to state support of the development of high-tech greenhouses, we will be able to encourage the substitution of imported vegetables. So, last year, about 30 hectares of greenhouses were put into operation, which allowed to receive in 2012 a crop of greenhouse vegetables with an increase of 12% over the previous year. Thus, Ukraine is steadily moving towards self-sufficiency in greenhouse vegetables,” said Mr. Prisyazhnyuk.
