In Ukraine, around 170 households are engaged in organic production, head of the Department of General Agriculture of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry Anatoly Rodyuk told journalists, ForUm correspondent reports. «As of today, 168 households of different forms of ownership and types of production, covering an area of 270 hectares, are engaged in organic production in Ukraine,» he said.
Rodyuk stressed that the adoption of this law has political, economic and social backgrounds for implementation of possibilities of organic production development.
«Now there is a legal opportunity to sell organic products, so the Ukrainian consumers can purchase goods at cost price,» he said. According to Rodyuk, the law was adapted to the norms of the European Community, and if the Ukrainian standards meet the European ones, then domestic producers will be able to export their products to many countries.
