Ukraine may get agricultural sector development strategy this year

A strategy for the development of agricultural sector and a strategy for the sustainable development of rural areas may appear in Ukraine this year.
President Viktor Yanukovych said this in an interview with the analytical magazine “Ukraine and the World in 2013. Global Agenda,” the press service of the head of state reported.

“They will offer entirely new approaches to public policy in the field of agriculture and rural areas development, based on European principles,” he said.

Yanukovych added that the government will deal with improving conditions for investors, especially those who are planning to implement innovative projects in the agricultural sector, as well as reform the food safety control system in accordance with the requirements of the European Union and the World Trade Organization.

The president also said that in recent years much has been done in the sphere of land relations. In particular, the law on the State Land Cadastre was adopted, a legal status was given to the procedure for conducting land auctions, the State Land Bank was established, its legal status and share capital were determined.

“In fact, the process of buying and selling non-agricultural land of state and communal property was unblocked. The issue of delimitation of state and municipal property lands was settled. Procedures for determining the boundaries of settlements, registration and certification of titles to land were simplified,” he said.
