Ukraine and Hungary stirring up agricultural cooperation

On February 14 Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhniuk held a working meeting with Dr. Sándor Fazekas, Minister of Rural Development of Hungary.

In the course of meeting the interlocutors touched upon issues of bilateral cooperation in the frames of work of joint Ukrainian-Hungarian inter-Governmental economic cooperation commission.

The sides expressed concern in cooperation along the direction of exchange in seed material and creating of joint hybrids and sorts of agricultural crops and also exchange in their seeds.

Moreover, in the course of meeting there were defined such prospect directions of cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary as export/import of breeding (genetic) resources of cattle, sheep, horse and poultry products.

In 2012 trade turnover in agricultural production between Ukraine and Hungary as compared to 2011 increased by 25% and made up USD 246.3 mln. The sum of export of Ukrainian goods increased by 16% and made up USD 61.4 mln.
