Agricultural exports in 2012 to grow by over a third

The growth of agricultural exports in Ukraine last year is expected to reach 30.8%, from USD 13 billion to USD 17 billion, Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said.

Over the year Ukraine has significantly expanded the geography of its agricultural exports, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing at the Cabinet.
“Ukraine has managed to significantly expand the geography of its exports. Beside the major traditional importers of Ukrainian production – Egypt, Iran and Spain, Ukrainian traders have entered the markets of Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of South Africa,” the official said.

Ukraine Seeking to Export Corn to U.S., Farm Ministry Says

Ukraine is seeking to export corn to the U.S., where this year’s harvest was reduced by the worst drought in half a century, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
“This would be a very important confirmation that our product has quality and meets all standards,” Prysyazhnyuk told reporters in Kiev today. Ukraine is trying to agree with the U.S. on sanitary standards at the moment, he said.
