Export of Ukrainian vegetables increases by 53% for five months

Export of national vegetables over five months of the current year grew by 53%. In total, over this time, Ukraine sent 134,000 tons of vitamin products to foreign markets. In addition to high yields, this index is promoted by construction of hot house complexes and modern vegetable storage facilities, director of the department for economic development of the agrarian market at the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry Vitaliy Sabluk expressed this opinion, the Ministry’s press service told Ukrinform.

“Record yields of vegetables enable to not only satisfy domestic demand, but to export a part of vegetable products. And Ukraine started to actively boost supply of vegetables to foreign markets. Export of vegetable products grew by third over two recent years. And over five months of this year – by 53%,” the Ministry’s representative said.

According to him, in 2011-2012, with the state support, 104 vegetable storages have been built with storage capacities of almost 0.500 million tons. And over the future two years, another 16 vegetable storages will appear in Ukraine with capacity of 140,000 tons.

Export growth is also promoted with construction of hot house facilities. In particular, in 2012, about 50 ha of new highly technological hot houses have been put into exploitation. And until the end of the current year, it is planned to put into exploitation hot house facilities on the area of over 0.5 million sq m.
