Agrarian Policy Ministry, grain traders to sign memorandum for 2013/2014 МY

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and grain traders plan to prolong the Memorandum of Understanding on grain exports for the 2013/2014 marketing year.Currently, the proposals from the parties, which may be included in this document, are finalized. The memorandum is planned to be signed in the coming months. This and a number of other issues were discussed by agrarian policy minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk and representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine.

“We have found an effective form of cooperation with commercial entities in the grain market, particularly in grain export. Therefore, in the coming months we plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2013/2014 marketing year. Of course, we will finalize it with grain traders,” Prysiazhniuk said.

The minister added that the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry continues improving the regulatory framework to facilitate the certification of grain and to create favorable conditions for use of warehouse receipts for grain.

In their turn, the representatives of business said that the Memorandum clearly defines the interaction between the Agricultural Policy Ministry and the grain market of Ukraine. They expressed their willingness to further cooperate with the Ministry and offered to finalize the Memorandum.

In addition, the participants discussed a number of legal and regulatory aspects regarding the grain market, the quality and safety of food products, special tax regimes, import-export operations.
